The 10th Anniversary Edition was a bundled re-release of Myst Masterpiece Edition, Riven and Myst III: Exile. It shipped with updated, hybrid (Mac OS and Windows) versions of all three games. These games were released on three DVD disks, which eliminated the need for disk-swapping in Riven and Exile.

Some fans criticized this re-release for using Myst Masterpiece Edition, which was notorious for its errors, instead of the real-time realMYST.

[edit] Features

  • Bonus content, such as making-of footage and a Rand Miller interview video.
  • The updated versions fixed a lot of compatibility problems, especially on Windows XP.
  • Some of the infamous sound changes from Myst Masterpiece Edition were reverted back to the original.

[edit] Technical Issues

Despite the fixes for Windows XP bugs and various extras added, some users still had problems playing the games. The Myst Masterpiece Edition that came with the game often froze upon start-up, giving users nothing but a black screen and the sound of blowing wind. It also would sometimes play the Ubisoft logo and the cyan logo, but not the opening movie.

Sometimes, the DVD of Riven would not start; rather than starting, it gave the user an error and terminated the program. Some issues with Exile have also been found, but these seem to be less common. Oftentimes, the only DVD out of the three that would work was the Exile DVD.

These issues do not seem to be platform or operating system specific - they have been documented on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS X, and many other operating systems besides.
