In D'ni culture, Age of Reason was the age of adulthood, and was reached when a person became 25 years old.

Adult D'ni were believed to be fully responsible for their acts and thoughts, whereas in contrast, the responsibility for children lay with their parents. This was symbolized by the bracelet of knowledge a D'ni would be given upon attaining the Age of Reason.

D'ni could marry only after reaching this age.
