The Aurora Blossom is a large, meaty flower found in the Age of Edanna that has the peculiar ability to focus light into a powerful ray of heat- not unlike the effect of a magnifying glass.
At about 6 ft. tall, the flower superficially resembles a sunflower with a thick root system. By touching what appears to be the stamen, the central whorl of the blossom opens up and reveals a moist, translucent layer that functions as the focusing lens. This is helpful in several areas of the age, as it allows one to overheat - and thus empty - the quaffler fig pods into their collecting basins.
Presumably needing a good amount of sunlight to function comfortably, Aurora Blossoms are found growing on the bleached bark of Deadwood Ridge and, in rarer instances, by the edges of the Eden Tree's lower swamp.
