Category talk:People
From MYSTlore
There is one Category:Characters too, they seem to have been somewhat confused. Isn't Category:People supposed to be real people like actors, Cyantists etc? 0123456789 16:04, 8 December 2006 (CST)
- No, but you can make actors a subcategory of People, if you want. Cyan employees already is a subcategory, as is Characters. The mesh between IC and OOC is deliberate. While it can be confusing to some, others would prefer it that way. Chucker 16:09, 8 December 2006 (CST)
I'm wondering if we should just make this category a superset. Does someone really need to be in Cyan Employees and People? Blade Lakem 11:24, 14 August 2007 (CDT)
- It already is a superset. People -> Humans -> Cyan Worlds employees. Chucker 12:29, 14 August 2007 (CDT)
- But there are lots of articles that are directly in this category and in one of the subsets. Rather, I was thinking it'd be better if Category:People only contained other categories. Blade Lakem 13:22, 14 August 2007 (CDT)
- I'm glad I read this, because I was about to start doing the exact opposite of what Blade suggested. :O Personally, I like the idea of name appearing in both places. Readers can look at just the 'People' category to see everyone associated with the Myst universe, then narrow that list by clicking on a subset. But thats just me. Other thoughts? Is there already an established "best practice" method? --DedHed 11:15, 20 December 2007 (CST)
- I think it is easier if there is a category of categories only, and that all people are categorized into subcategories. It is messy if things are in both the category and the supercategory. It doesn't matter to me what the categories are named. Gorobay 13:30, 20 December 2007 (CST)

[edit] People vs. Characters
What is the difference between category People and Characters?? Koena 02:27, 22 July 2007 (CDT)
- A person doesn't have to be a character. For example, a Cyan employee would be in the category People, but obviously not in the category Characters, since they're not fictional. Chucker 02:29, 22 July 2007 (CDT)
