[edit] Career

Watson received a Doctorate in History from the University of Utah before being invited to D'ni by his good friend Elias Zandi.

When Elias Zandi died in 1996 AD (9652 DE), Dr. Watson became the sole chairman of the D'ni Restoration Foundation and decided to create the DRC one year later instead to help with the responsibility. While chairman of the DRC, Dr. Watson wasn't responsible for any particular phase but instead helped out in a variety of areas, one of his major concerns being the safety of those in the cavern. However this came to a halt when he abruptly left the DRC following Phil Henderson's apparent death.

Unable to cope with Phil's death, Dr. Watson went in search of Yeesha, possibly taking her journey, and wasn't heard from for several years.

He returned in September 2007 (Leetar 9663), revealing that in his absence he took the quest to hold the Tablet, and ultimately freed the Bahro from their enslavement by giving it to them.

On November 16, 2007 (Leevofo 21, 9663), Dr. Watson invited the DLF to help him research the D'ni language.

[edit] Background

The following section is written from an OOC point of view. Events and elements surrounding the Myst Universe are regarded as fictional.
  • Dr. Watson's persona is largely based on Cyan employee Richard A. Watson. RAWA had frequently signed in the Riven Lyst mails as 'Dr.' of D'ni studies; eventually, he was featured as a fully developed character in versions of Uru, especially in Myst Online: Uru Live.
  • He has stated that he is in fact the protagonist of End of Ages.
  • His invitation to research D'ni is explained by RAWA in OOC terms.
