Ebony Cardinal

The Ebony Cardinal was the leader of the Black Ship pirates of Mechanical Age. While Sirrus and Achenar were captured by the pirates, they were initiated in their religion and adopted by him.
In the end, one of Atrus' sons stole an Age from their father's library and offered the book to him.

The events of The Joining are considered apocryphal. The Ebony Cardinal never appears in any other works but also he doesn't contradict published works either.
