Edanna is a lesson Age, one that Atrus wrote to help his sons Sirrus and Achenar understand the Art.

More specifically, it was written to demonstrate that, as he put it, "Nature encourages mutual dependence." The Age is, in its entirety, a single tree (called the Eden Tree). This tree, however, is about 400 feet tall and the foliage grows inward. Edanna is entirely organic, with plants performing the functions that, in most Ages, mechanics would. The Age has three distinct "levels" accessed by various organic means.

Spoiler warning: the following contains details about puzzles, plot, or similar. If you're not familiar with them already, continuing to read may affect your experience.

The puzzles in this Age all involve biological factors, namely its flora and fauna, which must be manipulated in order to unlock the other areas. Like its sister Ages, Amateria and Voltaic, it has been to some extent been tampered with by Saavedro. It means that the Edanna met by Sirrus and Achenar during their learning is slightly different from the Edanna met by the Stranger some years later.

[edit] Geography

There are three distinct ecosystems within the Eden Tree, starting from the top and going down:

Each region looks entirely different from the others, but the status of each one, depended on actions performed in the others.
