Eder Gira is a Garden Age, written during a so called "binge" when such Ages were in high demand.

[edit] D'ni History

Eder Gira was written in the garden binge of the 8100s.[1] The Age would have offered the D'ni a change of environment from the Cavern and enabled the D'ni to walk around (in the area explorers visit) in a desert-like, mountainous and rocky environment and experience and environment wildly different from what they would have been used to back in D'ni. It is unknown what areas of this Age the D'ni would have visited, if any, outside the small area the new explorers visit. Most of the Age looks like an unaltered, natural environment. There are some structures to be seen however. First of all, there are the wooden shutters that cover the steam vents. There is also some sort of structure on top of a rock between Upper and Lower Gira, and several pipelines between it and the lava flow in Upper Gira (this may be some sort of power generator, though this is speculation). Third, there are several lamps throughout the cave system, as well as some wooden planks and boxes. Last, there is a wooden gateway built somewhere in the caves.

There is DRC documentation for Eder Gira.

[edit] Geography

Eder Gira can be divided into two parts, commonly called Upper Gira and Lower Gira. Upper Gira is highly volcanic, with many steam vents, and paths of rock often lead over flowing rivers of lava. Lower Gira, separated from Upper Gira by a ridge of rock that can be scrambled over if one knows how, is less volcanic and boasts a waterfall, pool, and river that eventually falls off of a large cliff. A system of interconnected caves also exists in Lower Gira.

Unusually, Eder Gira has two primary link-in points. The visitor linking from a Relto will arrive in Upper Gira, in a small bowl-shaped valley. Someone arriving from Eder Kemo will find himself near the Kemo linking book in Lower Gira, across the stream from the waterfall-and-cave complex.

Occasionally birds can be seen in the sky. Also, a type of fish somewhat resembling a stingray can be seen swimming in the pool in Lower Gira.

[edit] Eder Gira II and Beyond Gira

The DRC lists what they refer to as Eder Gira II on their project page. Since August 15, 2006 (Leetar 5, 9662), it has been listed as "suspended", due to "failed phase one approval".

The following section is written from an OOC point of view. Events and elements surrounding the Myst Universe are regarded as fictional.

The Uru Soundtrack contains a track named Beyond Gira, presumably as ambience music for a hitherto unaccessible area. Some allege that Tahgira in End of Ages is actually based on repurposed work originally intended to be released as Eder Gira II for Uru Live (2003), but with textures changed.[2]
