Esher

Esher is one of the last D'ni known to have survived the fall. He fled to Noloben where he discovered a population of Bahro. Relations between Esher and the Bahro were not friendly. Esher viewed them as dangerous creatures and experimented on them in order to learn about their ability to link without Books.
He took the quest to release the Tablet, but failed.

When Dr. Watson was sent by Yeesha on the Quest, Esher aided him, and in doing so tried to manipulate him into giving him the Tablet. Eventually however, Dr. Watson chose to use the Tablet to free the Bahro, and Yeesha told the Bahro to do to Esher "as they would to the Least". Two of them grabbed him by the shoulder and linked him out. What happened with him after that is unknown.

Since 2003 AD (9659 DE), there has been a note on Douglas Sharper's desk in the Baron's Office from Marie Sutherland to Dr. Watson. It mentions a surviving D'ni living in a house on Noloben that the DRC had previously expected to be empty.
Following explorer inquiries, the DRC has later responded that the person would not reveal their name, and was generally displeased when hearing of restoration efforts.[1] Many speculated this person's identity to be that of Esher. And in September 2007 (Leetar 9663), Dr. Watson, who had recently returned to the cavern, confirmed that the man who lived on Noloben was named "Esher". Otherwise, the DRC has been quiet about Noloben's restoration status, and Esher has not been seen since 2005 AD (9661 DE). Yeesha confirmed that he tortured the bahro and took the shoulder skin off of the leader of the bahro nekisahl.
