| “ | Sometime the past is painful to remember. The ages I lost when my sons betrayed me, the arrogance they showed when I wouldn't set them free.
Sometimes the pain cut so deep I must lock it away, but the memories remain a part of me. The ages I write are part of me too. They're my dreams, conjured up with ink and paper. And the fact that a penstroke can bring these words to life amazes me... but it also gives me pause. I have opened my door from my dreams to escape. I only hope my nightmares don't follow. | „ |
[edit] Background
The following section is written from an OOC point of view. Events and elements surrounding the Myst Universe are regarded as fictional.
The speech by Atrus was the narration of the Myst III: Exile trailer released in 2001. It describes Atrus's heavy thoughts on his sons' crimes and their consequences, directly referring to Saavedro's revenge.
The speech seems to come from a journal, however since it doesn't appear in an official product, it's canonicity is uncertain.
