Fall of D'ni
From MYSTlore
The Fall of D'ni refers to the gassing of the D'ni people by Veovis and A'gaeris in Leesan 8 of 9400 DE (1745 AD).
[edit] Background
A'gaeris and Veovis shared opinions of D'ni purity and disliked Anna, an ahrotahn becoming a D'ni citizen. A'gaeris however secretly he planned to frame Veovis: he wrote documents in Veovis's own handwriting to implicate him of trading in illegal books, and killed two young Maintainers with a dagger belonging to Veovis. He then provided evidence to Veovis's former friend Aitrus, starting the investigation that would lead to Veovis.
The D'ni Council sentenced Veovis to a Prison Age; A'gaeris freed him and together with Suahrnir they plotted terrorist attacks on D'ni, including the bombing of the Ink-Works and the desecration of one of the Five Classics with additions in Master Talashar's own handwriting. However, the Age they used as their base was discovered by Anna and Veovis fell back into the hands of the Council while A'gaeris fled. Veovis was sentenced to death, but Anna pleaded for him, showing evidence that A'gaeris had framed him in the illegal book affair. Veovis's fate was reconsidered, and he was sent to a Prison Age instead. A'gaeris however, using natives of an Age as his slaves, was able to release Veovis from his new prison.
[edit] The Fall
From K'veer and Ederat as their base of operation, this time the criminal pair succeeded to assault D'ni with a plague in the form of a dark cloud of bacteria that spread through the cavern killing everything it touched. It involved releasing a poison gas cloud from the ventilation system that killed those that it touched. They spread it through as many Ages as they could find by sending dead bodies through Linking Books.
The gas remained in the air for the following days, discouraging the escapees to return. Thus, the Cavern remained empty for the following decades and D'ni was no more.
