Headspin was a company founded by Brice Tebbs who presented a real-time 3D engine, Plasma, whose graphical result they referred to as a mesh of Myst and Mario 64 (Wikipedia). [Citation needed]

Having piqued the interest of Cyan Worlds executives, Headspin was acquired soon after, and every game Cyan Worlds have developed since is based on Headspin's technology. As Headspin's headquarters were situated inconveniently far away from Cyan Worlds's, about half of the employees relocated; the rest left to pursue other interests.

[edit] History

  • Brice Tebbs published an old e-mail[1] indicating early interest on Cyan's part in Headspin's technology.
  • In September[2] and December[3] of 1998, JustAdventure News posted about rumors of a Cyan-Headspin relationship.
  • On January 14, 2000[4], Ma'tteh's Journal's News page concludes previously rumors by referring to an official announcement, a page that is no longer accessible[5].
