A KI image is a photograph created with the KI. It can be stored inside one's KI itself, shared with other explorers' KIs, and uploaded to public KI imagers, such as in Bevin and Relto (requiring the imager Relto page).

[edit] Uru

The following section is written from an OOC point of view. Events and elements surrounding the Myst Universe are regarded as fictional.

In offline versions of Uru, KI images are naturally only stored on the local hard drive. In online versions, they are stored primarily on the server. However, a local copy is created on the local hard drive.

[edit] Myst Online: Uru Live

Main article: Myst Online: Uru Live KI image bug

Since December 2006, the Uru Live client has a bug with regard to the locally stored copy of KI images and other images (such as portrait photos of your avatar), creating broken JPEG files that only some applications can open and edit. The actual image data is fortunately unaffected, and the files can easily be repaired.

[edit] Custom KI Images

In November 2007, Cyan introduced the ability to upload custom images to the KI via a form on the mystonline.com website. Images must go through an approval process before they appear on the KI.
