Link-in point
From MYSTlore
A link-in point is the destination of a link, such as through a linking book. A linking panel, where applicable, represents the view of the link-in point.
Link-in points are normally the places where a linking book was written. For example the original Myst linking book was written on the dock of the island, while the others were written inside the Myst Library.
Usually, link-in points are special places, such as caves. When needed, linking chambers were built around link-in points to isolate the explorers from the environment.
An age writer has no control over the location a descriptive book links to, although it remains constant as long as the book's writing is unaltered, and this location does not seem affected by the fact that the age's planet is rotating, revolves around its sun, and even as the tectonic plates of its surface (if it has them) are slowly shifting.
