The first page of the Relto linking book, with its linking panel in the top right

A linking panel is found in Bahro stones, descriptive books and linking books. They are rectangular panels that allows someone to link to another Age when they are touched.

The panel depicts what the exact place you are about to link to looks like.

There are two types of linking panels known. The first offers a flyby of the age. These are further divided into two categories. The first offers and endless flyby loop, which is seen in Myst, Riven, and Myst V: End of Ages. The second is a version seen in Myst III and Myst IV and gives you a flyby when you touch the panel. The second type of linking panel is seen in Uru and offer a still image.

Even though they are an integral part of all Myst and Uru computer games, linking books aren't actually represented entirely correctly in any of them. Inaccuracies include the use of a fly-by so the player gets a good visual overview of the age, static images which don't show what is currently happening at the location and an imprecise representation, not showing the exact location one would link to in the panel.
