Whenever contributing to a discussion on an article's talk page, it is useful and highly recommended to sign your post. This can easily be achieved by typing ~~~~ (four consecutive tilde characters), which will add your name (and a link to your user page) as well as the current date. At the bottom of edit pages, you will find a shortcut to this which you can click, labelled "Sign your name:". Also, depending on your preferences and browser setup, you may see a button on top of the text box that will do this for you.

Please do not, on the other hand, sign any contribution on an article page. The history of the article will track and clarify who contributed what; if you wish to assert your contribution as such (for example, because you were not logged in and appear anonymously in the history), you can use the talk page to do this. The article page itself should not contain any such personal references, especially because articles (unlike a section on a talk page) typically consist of contributions from many people, not one person in particular.
