The mangree language is a system of vocal communication used by the mangrees in Haven. It was studied by Achenar during his imprisonment there. Not much is known about this system.

[edit] Sounds

There are three distinct tones in the system: high, middle, and low. These tones can be either long (1.5 seconds) or short (0.5 seconds).

Achenar could not produce the mangrees' vocalizations, so he constructed a device with three differently-sized pots which he would use to make the tones.

[edit] Known words

Not much of the mangree communication system is known, however some basic vocabulary has been learned. There is no standard transliteration system besides Achenar's, so for this chart h is high, m is middle, and l is low. A capital letter is long and a lower-case letter is short.

Word Meaning
HlH run away
Hlm throw fruit

Four mangrees of the south jungle tribe have the names Hm, ml, LM, and lH. They gave Achenar a name, but it is unknown.
