[edit] Life
Me'erta was born in 1748 DE (5908 BC) to King Solath and his second wife Jolatha, who was though to be an adherent of the religion of The Tree. He took the throne in 1779 DE (5877 BC) and his reign was a turbulent one during which many cults sprang up. As Me'erta was preoccupied with his many lovers, it was widely believed that Jolatha held most of the power during his reign.
[edit] Early Reign
In 1817 DE (5839 BC) Me'erta proposed the building of the Temple of the Tree (completed in 1843 DE (5813 BC)). This was the first time that a King had supported anything other than the beliefs of Ri'neref. Some years later he sanctioned the construction of the Temple of Water (completed in 1876 DE (5780 BC)) and the Temple of the Sacred Stone (completed in 1902 DE (5754 BC)).
Me'erta also suggested that the line of the Great Zero was inaccurate.
[edit] Conflict with the Guild of Writers
In 1975 DE (5681 BC), at the urging of his mother, Me'erta attempted to change the oath of the Writer's Guild. The proposal was resisted by Grand Master Tremal. This cost Tremal his life, possibly on order from Jolatha. But the Writer's Guild continued to refuse the proposed changes.
In 1999 DE (5657 BC) Jolatha secretly broke the seal on the Tomb of the Great King and took several books. She died two days later of a mysterious illness and Me'erta ordered the tomb sealed again.
[edit] Death
Me'erta died 15 years later from poisoning but the murderer was never identified, although many believed it to be his wife or his son. He left the throne to that son, Gan.
