The Hive in the lake.

The Moiety Hive is the name given to the massive tree in Tay. It is inhabited by the Moiety rebels, and the Rivenese people after Riven was destroyed, and sits in the middle of a lake in the age. The tree towers over the age, and crane-like birds fly around the tree. The tree was based off of the Great Tree that had been in Riven. Inside, the hive is hollow. The branches of the tree are as big as trees themselves, and they were used as basis for constructions such as bubble-like huts, built around and between them.

The Stranger, when linked to Tay, was captured by the rebels. He was held in a little confined room, until Nelah, at Katran's request, fetched him a linking book back to Riven.

Whether the tree is dead or alive is unclear; it shows no sign of rotting or decay but doesn't seem to have much greenery either.
