Myst Masterpiece Edition

Myst Masterpiece Edition (commonly abbreviated MME) was a later re-release of Myst for Mac OS and Windows, with a few notable changes:

• Whereas the original release used dithered 256-color images for its nodes, with a different adaptive palette per age, computers had since advanced enough to make the original 24-bit (16,777,216-color) images feasible to use. The quality difference can best be seen in RAWA's "Dithering 101" explanation page.
• Some additional nodes (and, thus, new views of the Ages) were added.
• The sound effects and music were changed such as a shortened pool imager theme. Later on, in the 10th Anniversary Edition bundle, some of these changes were reverted.
• A help system for in-game maps and hints was added.
