Myst Mayhem
From MYSTlore
Myst Mayhem was Cyan's 2000 April Fool's joke. A press release announced that Cyan had been secretly shifting focus to first-person shooter games.
The accompanying screenshot showed a modified version of the then-in development realMyst, with Myst Island (including realMyst's unique weather effects and a fly-mode perspective) hosting what appears to be a battle — several people (avatars; a feature of the Plasma engine that the actual shipping version of realMyst never used; this was later used for Uru) running, some holding position with machine guns, one shooting through a turret on the rotating tower, the spaceship flying and oneself aiming with yet another gun.
Some of these nonsensical additions, such as the turret, are available in the shipping version of realMyst through easter eggs.
