Pento plague
From MYSTlore
The Pento plague was the major plague in D'ni history which impacted the D'ni civilization twice.
In 1466 DE (6190 BC), in response to Mekarr's murdering of his wife and two sons, Ahlsendar released a plague into Pento. Everyone died within three days, but not before the disease was spread to other Ages. The D'ni blamed the people of Pento for the disease, because Ahlsendar kept the truth a secret. The plague was not harmful to the D'ni but the Guild of Chemists feared a possible mutation.
The chemists' fears were confirmed in 2015 DE (5641 BC) when the plague started again, this time harmful to the D'ni. The new version halved life expectancy and caused infertility, and a 95% fatality rate. In 2262 DE (5394 BC) Lalen discovered the Book of Birenni, which helped the Guild of Healers find a cure; six years later the plague was officially declared over. By the time it ended, one quarter of the D'ni population had succumbed to the disease.
