Restoration phases

The DRC uses restoration phases to indicate progress when restoring an age or area to safe standard, after it will be released to the public. The status of all known ages that are being restored can be found here.

- Phase One: Initial Mapping (List of Ages in Phase 1)
- The DRC first explores the new Age or area. Basic maps and documents are created. Phase led by Dr. Kodama.
- Phase Two: Structural Analysis (List of Ages in Phase 2)
- The DRC analyzes buildings and structures to determine how difficult they will be to restore. Phase led by Dr. Kodama.
- Phase Three: Detailed Analysis (List of Ages in Phase 3)
- The DRC thoroughly studies the Age before restoration begins. Documents from Phase One are further detailed. Phase led by Dr. Sutherland.
- Phase Four: Restoration (List of Ages in Phase 4)
- The most extensive phase, during which all machinery is repaired, structures are secured and cleanup performed. Phase led by Michael Engberg.
- Phase Five: Limited Access (List of Ages in Phase 5)
- The DRC and a number of authorized explorers give the age a final look over before it is opened up to the public. Phase led by Dr. Sutherland.

The following section is written from an OOC point of view. Events and elements surrounding the Myst Universe are regarded as fictional.
RAWA gave a thorough explanation of the phases in an IC way as well as OOC in this post. In addition, he explained how, internally at Cyan, the phases translate to a pipeline model which helps Cyan's efficiency in churning out ages in this one.
