Fire marbles are spherical rocks, of various sizes and colors, that glow when shaken and extinguish when in water. Although they glow, they do not get warm. These fire marbles were a light source for the D'ni.
On a certain day in the D'ni year, fire marbles were hidden throughout D'ni and its Ages to commemorate Lalen's and Hemelin's search for a cure to the Pento plague.
Gehn, during his exile on Riven, devised an altered form of fire marble that provided enough power to stabilize flawed linking books, often referred to as a power marble.
