Prison Age
From MYSTlore
A Prison Age is an Age designed to be used solely to contain a person or persons with no means of escaping the Age.
The D'ni used Prison Ages to contain those who would otherwise pose a threat to D'ni society. Under the Loshemanesh Laws this included those who wrote or traded in illegal Ages, and those who coerced non-D'ni into criminal acts. The Ages themselves were often desolate islands, and the Books linking there were placed in the Cells of Entry deep in a secure area of the city. The link-in point was a secure chamber with a linking book back to D'ni, sealed off from the rest of the Prison Age. Exceptions were Tahgira and Veovis's final Prison Age, which held no such linking chamber.
Atrus borrowed this technique of dealing with those within his own family who abused their power: his father Gehn and his sons Sirrus and Achenar.
[edit] Known Prison Ages
A Prison Age should not be confused with a Trap book, which is an entirely different mechanism, but with a similar function.
