A span is a unit used by the D'ni to measure distance. The D'ni word for "span" is SafE[?] (shahfee). One span is equal to approximately 13.3333 feet or 4.06400 meters.
The distance and elevation values displayed on the KI coordinate system using the Great Zero are in spans.
