[edit] Explanation
Silly Putty is an easter egg found in Riven that is only viewable after one has activated the Spyder eggs. It is located on the viewer in the wahrk cave, and appears to have been used by the developers (namely Michael Sheets) to test the holographic image effect.
The video is consisted of two parts:
- The first section is a commercial from the late 1960s for a men's cologne called Hai Karate (Wikipedia). According to the plot, it made men so attractive to women so according to the advertisement the cologne provided "Instructions on self defence in every packet..." to help fight them off. In the video, a nerdy guy puts on the cologne, and his date immediately goes wild. The ending, seen in this egg, is him trying to save himself from her.
- The second part is a Silly Putty (Wikipedia) commercial from the 1950s. It features a sailor lauding the benefits of this wonderful substance.
