The Place Way Below D'ni

Short for The Place Way Below D'ni or The Place Way Down Beneath D'ni, TPWBD and TPWDBD are humorous fan terms referring to hell, in the traditional sense of an underworld. As D'ni itself is already a set of caverns underneath Earth's surface, it is an "underworld" in itself; the idea of TPWBD/TPWDBD is therefore that hell must be even deeper.

The term probably came to be in response to many discussion boards banning the use of the word "hell" for being a bad word, and for achieving "G-rated", "family-friendly" status, thus allowing an increased audience in.

It can be used interchangeably with the word "hell" itself, such as to avoid what some consider to be a bad word, or to emphasize that the statement isn't as serious as it may have come off by using "hell".
