Talk:Blood of Yahvo
From MYSTlore
[edit] Terrorist?
- Blood of Yahvo was a violent and perhaps terrorist D'ni cult
The term isn't defined or qualified, so I'm curious what makes the cult "perhaps terrorist". Let's look at three different definitions:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/terrorism:
- the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes.
- The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.
- the calculated use of violence (or the threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimidation or coercion or instilling fear
So, we have already established that they were violent. Is it at question, then, if their violence had a particular political cause? The sentence goes on to state:
- who believed that D'ni should not concern itself with ahrotahntee.
, which sounds like such a cause alright. Chucker 08:06, 18 November 2007 (CST)
- Is your point that "perhaps" should be gotten rid of, or that based on other things in the article it's obvious they were terrorists so there's no point in actually saying it? Gorobay 08:31, 18 November 2007 (CST)
- "Perhaps" should certainly be removed, but I'm also not happy with how "terrorist" is just thrown out there. I'm having a hard time coming up with a better formulation, though. How about:
- Blood of Yahvo was a cult whose belief that D'ni should not concern itself with ahrotahntee was enforced with considerable violence, amounting to terrorism.

- "Perhaps" should certainly be removed, but I'm also not happy with how "terrorist" is just thrown out there. I'm having a hard time coming up with a better formulation, though. How about:
