Talk:Buggaro
From MYSTlore
Hmmm, I see that we're the only ones claiming "buggahro", at least as listed both on Google and Yahoo!.
I assume the name is somewhere in Sharper's journal? Chucker 16:31, 8 October 2007 (CDT)
Not according to DPWR's archives, it isn't. Gorobay 16:33, 8 October 2007 (CDT)
- [1] Oops! I didn't mean DPWR said Douglas Sharper didn't make the name; I meant DPWR said he didn't make the spelling "buggahro" (with an aitch). There is no doubt he made the "buggaro" spelling; it's in his journal. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gorobay (talk • contribs) 23:14, 8 October 2007. Please sign your comments!
- Gotcha. So, I stopped being lazy and looked myself. The relevant portion: 'Anyway I named the birds here “Buggaros”. I think some part of that is D’ni for big – that’s what Nick said at least. Big bug.' So since "gahro" is the more common transliteration for "big", that pretty much validates the "buggahro" spelling; it just isn't common since Douglas's D'ni language skills are obviously poor.
- I've made them changes to hopefully make this a little less confusing. Also, the article should remain a stub until feeding is mentioned. Chucker 00:52, 9 October 2007 (CDT)
