[edit] End Of Ages
The End of Ages section mentions only one of the endings available for End of Ages. We don't know which ending is canon yet (nor do we really know how much of the game in general is canon). If we are going to have the section here, we should make it an OOC section, list all of the endings and note that it is unknown which ending is the 'real' one. Though I'd be inclined to have that data in the End of Ages article and just have a note that the fate of Esher is unknown, with a pointer to the EoA article. Blade Lakem 11:02, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
- This ending is the only REAL ending, as you can just wander around in the other two. Also, this is the only ending that shows the credits. And I find it highly improbable that End of Ages isn't canon at all. --D'nara 11:09, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
- End of Ages is not canon, just like the other four Myst games aren't. There are elements to it known to be true (for one, we know Noloben exists; then again, we don't know if it looks quite the way as depicted), but exactly what is canon and what's not has never been revealed (this will presumably happen over the course of this and next year, in MO:UL). I don't mind speculation on the article pages, but please don't suggest it to be factual. For all we know, Esher could be dead, a nice guy, not D'ni (no, we do not know for certain that he is the person the DRC met), etc. Chucker 11:31, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
- Besides, the same can be said about the Bahro article. --D'nara 11:11, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
- If you mean the "Featured" section: yes, it can; it's the same flaw and ought to be fixed as well. Chucker 11:32, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
- Well, it's not canon, but it's canon as not being canon, but still being a representation of the canonical happenings. It's complicated, isn't it? :S --D'nara 12:02, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
- It's based on canon, but not 100% accurate, nor meant to be. That's… basically it. It's telling a story but simplifying a few things, leaving a few details out, and making parts more dramatic, visually appealing, exciting, suspenseful, etc. Chucker 12:04, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
- But the story itself IS canon! They wouldn't just change the entire plot for dramatic effect. The "good" ending has always been canon in Myst games, and I think it still is. --D'nara 12:06, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
- Canon in the Myst Universe is really the history according to Uru. Unfortunately, we have no evidence about which ending happened in the Uru timeline, if any. At Mysterium 2006, Rand Miller said that events in End of Ages would be integrated into canon, but 'not like you might expect'. We know that details in the Myst games have been chalked up to artistic license - the nature of prison books, etc. So until we hear one way or the other definitively, we need to state that the events depicted in the game aren't necessarily definitive. - The Star Wars wiki uses a template for ambiguous canonicity. Maybe we could have something like that for End of Ages. Talashar 13:48, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
- You mean like Template:Unverified-canon-section? Chucker 14:21, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
- ...yeah, something like that... (where'd that come from? ;) )Talashar 19:25, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
