And that celestial body, assuming I got the right one, would be Mintaka (which apparently derives from the Arabic word for "belt"), not Minkata. Interesting theory nonetheless, but most probably completely off base :-) Chucker 09:04, 24 March 2007 (CDT)

That argument may not be at all correct, particularly if you happen to be an Australian Astronomical Observer; The Australian Govermental websight specifically designates the Celestial Star as Minkata; check http://www.aao.gov.au/AAO/images/captions/misc012.html. More than Arabs have been using this star for centuries. Using the argument above, perhaps Sirius, a companion Constellation, should be renamed Serious...? Abjab 8:35, 26 March 2007 (PDT)
