From MYSTlore
I can't see the relation to Myst here? 0123456789 16:47, 26 November 2006 (CST)
- Just want to repeat what I wrote above. There is no reason to have an article about Wikipedia on MYSTlore, is there? I suggest deletion. 0123456789 14:03, 2 December 2006 (CST)
Here's a few reasons:
- Wikipedia uses the same software. Newbies will be confused why the user interface looks almost identical; this should explain it to them.
- Wikipedia also has Myst-related articles. Some contributors here previously edited over there (yours truly included). Hopefully, MYSTlore will at one point grow to the extent that Wikipedia's Myst articles will have "see also" links to here.
- I can't think of a good reason not to have it. Chucker 14:32, 2 December 2006 (CST)
- It uses the same software, but in that case the article should be MYSTlore:Wikipedia and not just Wikipedia, shouldn't it? That seems fair, since it could include a description of the Wikipedia direct link function. I personally feel that this article, as it looks currently, is far outside of the scope of Mystlore, but otoh I'm not the right person to define Mystlore's scope. So, in case deletion is too drastic/uncalled for, I say move to MYSTlore:Wikipedia, and give it a major rewrite so that it actually focuses on wikipedia from a Myst point of view? 0123456789 16:00, 2 December 2006 (CST)
Better? I've gotten rid of most of the detail, which indeed is quite outside the scope, and made it more relevant to MYSTlore itself. Accordingly, I have also added Wikipedia to the Myst universe page. That said and done, I believe it would be more beneficial not to argue semantics and policies this much, and rather to concentrate on contributing, aggregating and editing actual content (preferably, for the most part, inside the scope).
