[edit] Linking Books

So are there two kinds of linking books (as here) or just one? I'm confused. Talashar 15:28, 12 April 2007 (CDT)

That "second kind" may very well be artistic license. I wouldn't know. Chucker 15:30, 12 April 2007 (CDT)

[edit] misleading vs retcon

I don't really think that placing the Cleft in Middle-east or Africa was a 'deliberate' misleading. What I think is that when the books were made, in Cyan's mind (the Millers' or Wingrove's) they really intended the Cleft to be somewhere in Asia. When they decided it was in Eddy County, it was not the 'revelation' of truth, but only a change of plans, aka a pure retcon. The 'misleading' explanation is just an 'in-universe' explanation to avoid saying things like 'we changed our minds' and ruin all the suspension of disbelief thing. Koena 05:19, 20 August 2007 (CDT)

That's possible, but it is pure speculation at this point, and conflicts with what Cyan has said on the subject. Blade Lakem 10:45, 20 August 2007 (CDT)
Saying that the Cleft is fictional and that the Millers with RAWA never visited it, also conflicts with what Cyan has said. It's just the 'in-universe' concept they are playing in when using these terms. Koena 14:48, 20 August 2007 (CDT)
Simply put in terms of OOC and IC
OOC - Cyan told David that the cleft was in a desert. David when went on to craft the middle east thing, Cyan have said the cleft was always going to be in New Mexico.
IC - Cyan told David to hide the location of the cleft on purpose to keep people from venturing into D'ni before the DRC were ready. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tweek (talkcontribs) 21:09, 20 August 2007. Please sign your comments!
