Tay (also referred to as the Rebel Age) was a refuge of the Moiety and other inhabitants of Riven, seeking protection from Gehn. Access to this age's linking book was through a secret passage on the Jungle Island of Riven. After the collapse of Riven, Tay became the permanent home of the Rivenese people.

Catherine continued to visit Tay in the following decades. After her abduction and the death of Achenar, Yeesha was taken briefly to Tay to recover.

Catherine's drawing of the Hive

The age is based on one originally written by Gehn, which he had burnt. Catherine and the Moiety discovered the burnt book, and rewrote it to provide a refuge Age. It is unknown whether the result is a modified version of Gehn's original, or so drastically different as to count as completely new.

Large crane-like birds fly across the skies of this age. Referred to sometimes as taybirds[1], almost nothing is known about these mysterious animals, the only form of wildlife known in the age.
