Temple Island
From MYSTlore
Temple Island is actually a pair of islets of Riven's islands, usually ocnsidered one. The largest contains the Star Fissure, a pentagonal room serving as a security mechanism and the Great Dome. The smallest of the two contains the temple. They are connected with a short bridge.

[edit] Communications
To get to Temple Island, one can link there from the local fire marble dome as well as a maglev station from Jungle Island. Atrus's Riven Linking Book also links to Temple Island.
[edit] The Prison Cell
Main article: Fissure plateau cage
Atrus' Riven Linking Book links to a small one-person prison cell. It was purposefully constructed by Gehn at the Riven's link-in point in order to trap Atrus or Catherine should they ever decide to return. For that reason he also placed a guard post at that area.
At first, the cell's door is opened, but when a person links onto the weight pad at the bottom of the cell, the gate closes. However this mechanism was jammed by a Moiety to free the Stranger.
[edit] The Star Fissure
Main article: Star Fissure
The Temple island housed the point where a Star Fissure referred to as Allapo or Allatwan by natives) made its appearance when Gehn confronted Atrus. The latter in order to escape his father, jumped inside holding the last Myst linking book and linked to Myst, leaving his father stranded.
Gehn sealed the Fissure and built a hatch and telescope above in order to study its nature.
[edit] The Great Dome
The Great Dome was the biggest structure on Riven, built by order of Gehn. It was a giant, golden dome, located on Temple Island with pipes that provided steam energy from Riven's underground to bridges. It housed the Power Marble generator on its roof, which was a comparably small machine. The dome's big size and emptiness was probably connected to Gehn's megalomaniac character.
A D'ni text ran around the Dome's perimeter: rezu xo Dovamet Kenen faS[?] (rezuh tso dovahmet kenen fahsh): "The end of this world is near".
[edit] The Temple
The temple consists of a large altar-like imager of Gehn and idols of wahrks on either side of the imager. The imager activates every time someone opens the doors leading from the maglev from Jungle Island. There is also a hidden corridor that leads to a throne room with two viewscreens: one of the main temple room and the other focused on the door to the temple. Gehn most likely used this room to talk to the Rivenese through the imager in the temple.
