Ting

Ting is a creature of the Age of Whiterock.
The ting is born in the water until it takes on a brownish color and emerges and slowly crawls onto the rocky shore. This new color of it matches the color of the stone, something that protects it from predatory birds of the Age.
Some of them curl into balls under or inside small pocks and holes in the rocks, and almost immediately begin to entomb themselves beneath a rock-like crust which they create.
After two months, the shell becomes rubbery and soft, and opens to expose hundreds of little creatures called solastings.[1]
