(Yeesha voiceover)
- The storm has come
- The rain has passed
- The tree… remains
- But far in the distance, a new storm builds with dry, titian clouds of dust and destruction.
- They are free; they are gathering.
- And now, choices abound. Some simple, some deep.
- Even now, decide:
- here (pointing at Relto pole revealing Cleft linking book), explore alone — the place where all journeys begin. There are no others in the Cleft. It is empty desert. Yet there is wisdom on that path.
- or here (pointing at Relto library focusing on Bevin neighborhood linking book), explore together — the cavern (showing Ae'gura) lives, and grows.
- There are friends. And enemies. Laughing and waiting.
- Alone or together, destruction is coming.
- Alone or together, find a way.
- Alone or together, make a home. (showing a heavily personalized Relto)
- They come.
- He comes.
- And I will come as well.
[edit] Discussion
Compared to the original Uru intro, this one has a voiceover by present-day Yeesha, rather than Atrus. Arguably sounding bitter, she briefly and figuratively recaps events around 2003-2005 (i.e., from Uru Prime, Uru: To D'ni, Uru: The Path of the Shell and Myst V: End of Ages), but warns that trouble isn't over, though she remains vague over its nature.
She introduces the two beginning options: "alone", replaying a slightly altered Uru Prime, or "together", joining other explorers ("friends, and enemies"), and mentions that "finding a way" and "making a home" are crucial in dealing with the unavoidable fact that "destruction is coming".
Finally, she mentions a group ("they"; perhaps the "friends", the "enemies", the bahro, or simply the DRC), a male person ("he"; perhaps Esher or Dr. Watson) and herself coming to join in the quest.
