[edit] The History of Vaaht's Name

Vaaht's name is usually a matter of much discussion to new-comers in CyanChat and other people who do not know her very well. A short history follows:

  • The original members of The Lysts will remember her name as Nancy, sometimes quoting the well-known lyrics "but everyone knew her as Nancy" from The Beatles "Rocky Raccoon".
  • At some point after playing Riven, Vaaht decided that she wanted her name to be a tribute to the number 5 (much revered by Gehn), and also the square root of the number 25 (much revered by the D'ni people). The fifth D'ni number is "vaht"; however this name was taken on AOL Instant Messenger (AIM). Thus, she added the extra "a" and the name "Vaaht" was born.
  • At other times, she has also gone by "Fahsee" (the D'ni number 25), and Jehn. She mainly used "Jehn" in RivenGuild Chat among close friends, while "Vaaht" was reserved for CyanChat.

[edit] Interests

Vaaht is very interested in Linguistics, and used to speak D'ni fairly well back in the early days when there was still no D'ni word for "talk"; thus, people were always "writing to each other later".

[edit] Odd Facts

  • Contrary to popular belief, Vaaht is in fact a girl and not a boy.
  • Although her name is typically typed all in lowercase, this is usually out of pure laziness rather than preference.
  • As a type of joke back in the days of RivenGuild, Vaaht would claim (using the name "Jehn") that Vaaht was her evil twin sister, and that Jehn was the good twin sister. It is unknown where this story started from.
  • Common D'ni greetings Vaaht uses are: shorah "peace", shorah biv "peace all", and ?thoe kehnem "how are you?" or ?thoe kehntee "how are you all?"
  • Her all-time favorite D'ni insults are from Yohshee's old dictionary website[1], which are not all listed anymore. However, one of her favorites is: tohrn f'shehm, which means "I spit on you."
