Vahkhro

Vahkhro (D'ni for linking people) is an alternative term for the Bahro. Following a discussion among some explorers who allege the more common name is discriminating, it has been suggested by them.

Tai'lahr created a thread on the DRC Site Forums, stating that the current term is "derogatory", and that their homeworld should be acknowledged in a replacement term. Following several suggestions from other explorers, BrettM eventually proposed Vahkhro, which Tai'lahr (as well as others) agreed on. The result has since been announced as a cross-post on the Myst Online: Uru Live forums [1] as well as on the Myst & Uru Obsession Forums [2].

It has been pointed out, however, that the Vahkhro may not be able to understand the explorers' vocal communication anyway, or that they may regard it as irrelevant. Whether they were actually offended by the previous term, or whether they will appreciate the new one, is therefore unclear.

Also unknown at this point is whether the DRC or a plurality of explorers will adopt the change in any fashion.
