Wahrk Gallows

The Wahrk Gallows are found on Riven's Jungle Island. They served as punishment for convicted criminals in Riven. The gallows consist of a circular base emblazoned with Gehn's star insignia. Rigging forms a sort of pyramid-like head where, at the top, the convict is suspended in midair above the base. The base is retractable (controlled by a very out-of-the-way watchtower), and when retracted, leads to open water where a Wahrk is summoned. The convict is lowered to the awaiting Wahrk and is consequently eaten. Gehn constructed a cell next to the gallows for easy transportation to and from the gallows. Unbeknown to Gehn, the Moiety used the tunnel behind the cell as the entrance to the hidden chamber that held the Linking Book to Tay.
